Fuel Theft alert

Alert message sent 12/02/2019 15:31:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

Good afternoon,
the theft of fuel from rural properties is on the increase. There is no information to suggest it is restricted to Clydesdale, and is more likely driven by current prices, and supply - The cold weather. All thefts reported have been in the range of 500 - 1200 litres.

Where possible, we ask that you fully enclose your tank, and alarm it if possible.  Point security lights in their direction, and post signage. We also encourage Neighbourhood Watch groups, and sharing of delivery dates with trusted neighbours, so that vehicles on your property or at your tanks will be immediately suspicious.

Large storage tanks such as fuel bowsers are required to store this amount of fuel. Please report any vehicles towing bowsers in unmarked vehicles to 101. Where possible we will intercept and check their credentials.
we are allocating extra patrols to check on commercial vehicles at this time. Please be patient if your vehicle is stopped. Have all paperwork on any fuel to hand.

Kind regards,
The Community Safety Team.
